Each one is folded from the same 72-hour cold-fermented, hand-tossed dough as our pizza, filled with ricotta and mozzarella, and served until 4am Sunday through Wednesday and 5am Thursday through Saturday at 145 1st Ave in the East Village.
Same Dough, Folded Instead of Topped
Every calzone here starts as the same dough East Village Pizza, family-run since 1997, uses for its regular pies: cold-fermented for 72 hours and stretched by hand before it ever sees the oven. We've written before about why that dough process matters. The calzone is just that same dough folded over a filling instead of left open with toppings on top.
All nine share the same base inside: ricotta and mozzarella. What changes is what goes in with them, and that's where the nine ways come in.
9 Ways to Get a Calzone at East Village Pizza

Ricotta and mozzarella, with your choice of sauce. It's the plainest calzone on the menu and the best way to taste the dough on its own terms.

Ricotta and mozzarella plus the fillings you pick, served with a side of marinara. If none of the set combinations below is quite what you want, start here.
3. Chicken Calzone — $16.99
Chicken cutlet folded in with ricotta and mozzarella. A straightforward, filling order.
4. BBQ Chicken Calzone — $16.99
BBQ chicken with ricotta and mozzarella, for when you want something sweeter and smokier than tomato sauce.
5. Buffalo Chicken Calzone — $16.99
Buffalo chicken with ricotta and mozzarella. Add a 2 oz. side of blue cheese or ranch for $1.50.
6. Meatball Calzone — $16.99
Meatballs with ricotta and mozzarella: the calzone version of a meatball parm.
7. Pepperoni Calzone — $16.99
Beef pepperoni with ricotta and mozzarella. The same beef pepperoni that goes on our pepperoni pies and slices.
8. Sausage Calzone — $16.99
Beef sausage with ricotta and mozzarella. Pair it with a side of marinara if you like your sausage with red sauce.
9. Cheesy Calzone — $18
A cheese calzone loaded with triple cheese, mozzarella and ricotta. It's the cheesiest calzone we make, and the priciest one on the menu.

First time here: the Cheese Calzone. Want heat: the Buffalo Chicken Calzone. Want it as cheesy as possible: the Cheesy Calzone. Feeding someone picky: the Create Your Own Calzone. Want extra sauce for dipping the crust? A 2 oz. side of marinara is $1.50, and six garlic knots are $4.75 if you're ordering for more than one.
